This morning, as reported by Committed Indians, the Chicago Blackhawks brought back Andrew Desjardins on a 2-year contract worth $1.6million ($800k cap hit).
Desjardins, although playing on the 4th line, played an important part in helping the Blackhawks bring back Lord Stanley's Cup for the 3rd time in 6 years. He plays a grinding game that the Blackhawks need and provides a strong ability to play on the penalty kill.
He isn't a fancy star player, but it is players like this that know their role, that provide the most of what a team needs and Stan Bowman is keeping what he can in place.
More will have to happen though in order to be under the cap when the season opens in October. We will see what develops as time goes on.
LET'S GO HAWKS!!!
